MARK EASTON ON TOUR FEB - MARCH 2007
Beginning February 2007, blues slide guitarist Mark Easton will embark on a solo tour beginning at the Australian Blues Music Festival (Goulburn) and continuing through Adelaide, Melbourne and up the East Coast.
The son of a Wollongong jazz musician, Mark embraced music from a very
early age.
He has had a long, exciting and varied career, commencing in inner city Sydney, playing Rock, Grunge and other various permutations before returning to the fundamentals of the Blues.
He performs the raw, basic sounds of the Blues on Slide Guitar and Harmonica. Mark forms an extremely strong connection with this audiences through the emotionally sincere, unprocessed music he creates.
Mark’s latest album, “Bandwagon” (BMM 317.2) is a mixture of covers and
originals. The covers include a rollicking version of Hound Dog Taylor’s (“Give Me Back My Wig”), Rory Gallagher, (“Bullfrog Blues”) and Blind Willie Johnson, (“John The Revelator”).
Of his excellent originals, the picks are “When I Think Of You” a touching, emotional number and “Not Blues Enough” a none too subtle dig at how Blues has been prostituted by the “Roots” craze.
Mark has been nominated for New Talent of the Year (2007) at the Australian Blues Music Awards (Goulburn) and is enjoying regular Triple J airplay.
“Bandwagon” has received excellent reviews, not just Australia-wide but also internationally -
“Great slide guitar, good lyrics and plenty of variety. A cracking CD, just wish Australia was not so faraway!” - Blues Matters magazine, UK (November 2006).
“Returning to the Blues after a long musical journey means that I’ve finally reached where I want to be with my music. This tour’s so exciting because it’ll give people the opportunity to hear what I’ve been working towards.” - Mark Easton
